There are several summer camp jobs and internships available every summer. If you are interested in working at Camp Saginaw, here are the positions that we hire for each year.
In each bunk, there are at least two counselors. Along with ensuring each child’s general welfare, a summer camp counselor accompanies their campers from activity to activity. Summer camp counselors must possess the following qualities: patience, compassion, fairness, great listening skills, and most importantly, a sincere desire to work with children. We look for applicants who have experience working with children.
Specialists are another important job at Saginaw. These positions require the staff member to teach a specific activity at camp. Every activity at Saginaw has a specialist to teach it! Some areas - like the pool or adventure course - have multiple specialists who work as a team at a very busy activity area. Other activities - like karate or photography - have one specialist to run all of the programming for that activity area. However, all specialists will have a supervisor to assist them with their schedules, supplies, and any issues that may arise. Applicants must demonstrate a strong aptitude in their specialty area and must have experience teaching or coaching children.
Our Athletics specialists include staff specialized in tennis, golf, gymnastics, and karate. Many campers take private lessons in these areas, which means these staff must have extensive previous teaching experience.
Our comprehensive art program includes general Arts and Crafts Assistants (must have strong artistic talent), Ceramics, Culinary Arts, Scrapbooking, Silk-Screening, Sewing, Fine Arts (drawing & painting), Jewelry, Woodworking, Video Production, and Digital Photography.
We also hire staff to teach Drama and Dance. These positions will also direct and choreograph our summer musical theater show.
We hire lifeguards (American Red Cross Certified or the equivalent), swimming instructors (WSI Certified or the equivalent), a canoeing/kayaking specialist, waterskiing and wakeboarding staff, and a SCUBA/snorkel instructor.
We hire Adventure specialists with skills in Archery, Ropes Course (Zip-Line, Climbing Wall, Aerial Adventure, and Low & High Ropes), Dirt Bikes & ATVs (Honda, Yamaha, & Polaris), Go-Karts, Riflery/Pellet Guns, and Outdoor Adventure/Fishing.
Our support staff consists of kitchen staff (cooking, baking, serving, etc), housekeeping and laundry staff, as well as a maintenance staff to keep our grounds looking amazing! We also have assistants working in our office to help with bookkeeping and other paperwork.
Please Note: We receive hundreds of applications each year. Please complete all information on the staff application including references and a photo. Camp Saginaw is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against applicants applying for summer camp employment based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status.
